Cher (e) candidat (e), je me présente, je m’appelle Katherine et suis la coordonnatrice au développement durable que tu espères remplacer en septembre. Je quitte, le coeur lourd, ce poste que j’aurai occupé un peu plus d’un an. J’ai tout d’abord commencé ici en travaillant sur le rapport STARS, mais fus transférée au poste de communications avec joie. Par la suite, ce poste est vraiment trippant, stimulant et exigeant à la fois. Qui aurait cru que passer du temps sur Twitter ferait partie de ma description de tâche? 

Je me suis également occupée de l’e-bulletin mensuel, de faire de la promotion d’événements sur Facebook, ai rencontré des bénévoles sympathiques et traduit des textes jusqu’à ce que je ne puisse plus différencier l’anglais du français. J’ai aussi dû me creuser les méninges à plusieurs reprises afin de pouvoir explorer des styles d’écritures variés pour le site internet et les courriels aux bénévoles. De plus, on ne sait jamais ce qui pourrait arriver au bureau. Par exemple, cet été je rédigeais quelques tweets au sujet d’un article le matin et triais des dons du Déposez et dégagez quelques minutes plus tard. 

Du plus, j’espère que vous avec l’esprit créatif et la plume (bilingue) agile! Ce poste requiert beaucoup d’indépendance et de créativité afin pouvoir tout accomplir à temps. Bonne chance !

Dear applicant, my name is Katherine and I am the Campus Sustainability Coordinator that you may replace come September. I have been working at the sustainability office for over a year and would stay here forever if I could. I started out here working on the STARS report, but quickly switched over the comms position when I got a chance. This job is so much fun (and so much work)! 

I got to tweet and promote events on facebook, meet some really nice volunteers, translate until I wasn’t sure what language I was speaking anymore and create newsletters tailored to our campus. Basically just the right balance between work and play. Furthermore, I also do a lot of creative writing. And I when I say a lot, I mean a lot: the monthly newsletter, emails to volunteers, web content, volunteer binder information, to name just a few. But being part of the sustainability team is exciting because you never know what will come next. For example, this summer I’d be answering a few emails one minute, and then knee deep in Dump N’ Run donations the next. 

From working on the newsletter to emptying the compost bins. It sure adds some variety to the day! So I guess what I’m saying is that you need to be flexible. Maybe try some yoga?
